Way to score on the freebies! Just put the word out that you would appreciate any used baby items and you will get TONS of stuff. Probably more than you'll ever use!

That's my idea Oz, I am trying to prove all those you must spend a million dollars to have a happy, healthy baby columns wrong...

Good going on the freebies. Aside from all the gifts I got at my shower, I received a free crib and changing table from a coworker.

Definately get the word out there. I was surprised at how many people told me that they thought I would want all brand new stuff for my first baby.

frugalmom--I have heard the same thing from people about assuming you'll want all new stuff, LOL, it is probably the one time in a kid's life when they'll have no idea what is new and what isn't...

What I did was get established in a hand me down ring (or chain). It starts with one person, gets passed to the next and so on. I got a lot of great things that way. I was always in the middle or near the end of the ring until my daughter grew taller than her older cousin at age 8 and now we are at the top of the ring for her but still at the bottom of the ring for my son. I don't mind being at the top for Rose after 8 years of tons of free clothes. Now she has hips it was getting hard to fit the hand me down clothes anyway. But we got all sort of clothes and play equiptment this way, too.
